The new Chery Tiggo 7 plug-in hybrid SUV will enter the market with two trim levels—Urban and Ultimate—starting from $39,990 driveaway, making it the most affordable PHEV SUV currently available in Australia.
Dropping the ‘Pro’ badge from previous models, the Tiggo 7 Super Hybrid features a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine (105kW/215Nm) paired with a 150kW/310Nm electric motor. Combined, the powertrain delivers a driving range of up to 1200km through a single-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT).
The system supports four driving modes—pure electric, series, parallel and energy recovery—allowing it to operate as a full EV at low speeds and switch to efficient hybrid operation at higher speeds. The 18.3kWh lithium iron phosphate battery allows up to 93km (NEDC) of pure electric driving and can be charged from 30% to 80% in just 20 minutes using a DC fast charger (40kW).
